FARMINGTON — The FBI is investigating the death of a teenage girl from Shiprock, whose body was found along U.S. 64 in Hogback.

Brittany Hadley, 19, was found shortly after 4 a.m. on Sept. 26 near mile marker 30 on U.S. 64 in Hogback, Frank Fisher, a spokesman for the FBI, said in an email.

Hadley may have been the victim of a hit-and-run crash, he said.

Hadley graduated from Shiprock High School in 2011 where she was a member of the ROTC Drill Team. A New Mexico boxing website said she was a professional boxer based out of Shiprock.

She took courses at San Juan College in the spring of 2012, Rhonda Schaefer, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said. She was not enrolled at the college at the time of her death.

Hadley’s funeral is at 10 a.m. today at The Oasis Church in Farmington.

The FBI and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are asking anyone with information on the crash or saw suspicious activity in Hogback the night of the crash to call the Albuquerque FBI at 505-889-1300.
