DURANGO, Colo. — First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to speak Wednesday at Fort Lewis College as the Democratic campaign seeks to woo Colorado voters.

The event will be held at the college’s Whalen Gymnasium. Doors open at 2:15 p.m., and the First Lady is expected to begin speaking at about 5 p.m., according to the La Plata County Democrats website.

Free tickets were distributed for the event Sunday. No tickets remained by Monday.

The Obama campaign is working to recover from President Obama’s widely criticized debate performance last week in Denver. Several polls have shown Obama’s lead in the race narrowing or disappearing altogether in recent days.

Colorado’s nine electoral college votes are highly coveted by both parties this year.
