Naeem Begay scored twice Tuesday to push the Farmington Scorpions to a win over Piedra Vista.
No. 4 Farmington also received a goal from Omar Romero to beat the Panthers 3-0.
“PV stuck to coach (Adrian) Romero’s plan and played a high defensive line which our boys haven’t really seen throughout the state so it took them awhile to break PV down,” said FHS head coach Ryan Atkinson. “They were able to keep fighting and pull through with a win.”
Farmington (8-5 overall, 2-0 District 1-4A) hosts Aztec on Thursday before rematching Piedra Vista on Oct. 25.
The Panthers (3-12-1, 1-1) plays Los Alamos on Saturday.
