FARMINGTON — Farmington Fire Department crews contained an apartment fire that broke out near Apache Street and Locke Avenue at 11:13 a.m.

The fire reportedly started after a plumber began work on a shower in one of three downstairs units.

All apartment residents safely exited the building before the first fire crews arrived at 11:15 a.m., said Fire Chief Terry Page.

The fire spread into multiple apartment units and into the attic before being contained. The department is currently investigating the fire’s cause.
