FARMINGTON — The expansion of a more than four-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 491 is expected to begin this month near Naschitti.
The State of New Mexico recently allocated $13 million to expand a two-lane portion of highway, turning it into a four-lane section, according to a news release from the Office of the President of the Navajo Nation.
Construction is scheduled to take place between milepost 41.8 to 46.0 and is expected to be completed in May 2014.
