The call went out at 1:32 p.m. from dispatch, stating the home at 21 Road 6403 was completely involved with flames and smoke showing, San Juan County Fire Marshall Chris Cardin said.
Districts 1 and 14 of the SJCFD responded to the call along with the Farmington Fire Department and San Juan County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Helping out with operations as crews worked to contain the blaze, Cardin classified the damage to the home as a complete loss.
The fire was contained within an hour of the fire starting, with crews remaining to ensure the blaze was extinguished.
Ladders from two of the trucks were used to provide aerial spray as the fire spread to the attic of the home.
Homeowners Larry and Maxine McCabe were notified by their son of the fire and raced to their home as firefighters were managing hot spots.
"I was hoping it would be minimal but once I got on Copper Hill, I saw the smoke and I already knew, that's not minimal," Larry said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
