FARMINGTON — A local church is coming together to provide the less-fortunate with food and presents for the holiday season.

As Christmas approaches, some families in the community find themselves unable to provide their children with presents or the traditional holiday feast.

Sandra Kinflow, a member Kingdom Connection Cowboy Church, said the church receives a lot of visits from people asking for help. These visitors inspired the church to put together food baskets and gifts.

The food baskets and presents will be handed out to the families today from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Kinflow said most of the families were referred to the church. Some heard of the event through ads placed on the radio. Others were selected by the church.

The church then spoke to the families and found out how many members the families had and what type of food to provide, Kinflow said.

The non-denominational Christian church meets twice weekly on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Kinflow said the church accepts anyone who wants to come, regardless of their gender or skin color.

"We love everyone who comes and want them to be part of our family," Kinflow said.

Kinflow said the church believes in God and wants to see more people become involved.

The church is located at 7878 Hwy. 64 in Farmington.
