FARMINGTON — Bloomfield police evacuated the Desert Rose RV Park during a structure fire early Monday morning.

A family’s Winnebago RV was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived at the mobile home park on 1900 East Blanco shortly before 8 a.m., Bloomfield police Sgt. Marlyn Wyatt said in a news release.

There was a 200-pound propane tank attached to the Winnebago so officers evacuated the entire mobile home park, he said.

William Jones, who owns the Winnebago and lives there with his wife, said he heard a “pop” and a roar early Monday and saw the home caught fire near their refrigerator, police said.

The Joneses were not hurt during the fire.

The family did lose most of their belongings and is receiving aid from The American Red Cross.

San Juan County Fire Marshal Chris Cardin said the mobile home was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

No other homes were damaged because of the fire.
