FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was stabbed to death in Las Vegas, N.M., this weekend.

Toby J. Armenta was found dead near an irrigation pond at an apartment complex in Las Vegas, about 66 miles east of Santa Fe. A Las Vegas Police officer found Armenta at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a police report.

A man he was with, Stephan Treiber, was stabbed in the neck, stomach and chest and was transported to Alta Vista Regional Hospital. As of Tuesday evening, the hospital had not returned calls seeking information on his condition.

Police found Treiber at the San Miguel Senior Apartment Complex and Armenta was found close to a nearby apartment complex.

In an interview with police after he was stabbed multiple times, Treiber said he was attacked by a woman.

Las Vegas police arrested Antoinette Armijo, 39, at 8 p.m. Saturday night while she was driving with her boyfriend, Johnny Montoya, 36.

Police said Armijo admitted during an interview that she stabbed both men in self defense. After the stabbing she allegedly took the knife and fled the scene, according to a police report.

Armijo was charged with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated battery and tampering with evidence, according to court documents.

She is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to the documents.

Montoya was charged with tampering with evidence.

Armijo was convicted in Las Vegas District Court for larceny and drug trafficking in 2004, according to a state court website.

The Las Vegas Police Department declined to comment on Tuesday.

Armenta - who was born in 1989, according to a state court website - was part of a Farmington music group called 505-Familia, according to his Facebook page.

A separate page on the social networking site that seeks donations for Armenta's family to help pay for his funeral expenses was set up on Sunday.

Attempts to contact his friends and family on Tuesday weren't successful.
