FARMINGTON — A 29-year-old Farmington woman was killed in crash on U.S. 550 Wednesday night.

Claudia Lemus, of Farmington, died when she flipped her GMC pickup truck at least two times while making a slight turn on the highway, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The crash was reported at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The roadway near the crash was extremely icy and it was snowing.

Alberto Arce-Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Farmington man, was a passenger in the truck. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for mild back pain and a head laceration.

The sheriff’s office said speed was a factor in the crash and it is not yet known if alcohol was involved.

It did not appear Lemus was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
