FARMINGTON — A man attacked a Farmington officer who tried to arrest him for an active warrant on Tuesday night, according to Farmington police.

Delando Henry, 21, was arrested on suspicion of battery of a peace officer, resisting an officer and disorderly contact, in addition to the active warrant, said Farmington police Lt. Taft Tracy.

Henry has been arrested for assaults and batteries on police officers four times, Tracy said.

At 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Farmington police Cpl. Kyle Dowdy arrived at Sonic, 1720 West Main St., to arrest Henry on a warrant for failing to appear in court.  The warrant stemmed from a misdameanor conviction for assault on a police officer last May.

Henry was argumentative when Dowdy approached him, and, at one point, Henry turned and punched the officer in the side of the head, according to police.  The punch stunned Dowdy, and Henry continued to throw punches and kick Dowdy, Tracy said.

Dowdy brought Henry to the ground and held him until more officers arrived and shackled and arrested Henry.
