FARMINGTON — A suspected drunken driver fled from police, crashed his vehicle into his neighbor's car and was arrested Monday afternoon, police said.

Frankie Crawford, 60, was arrested for suspicion of his second DWI, hit and run, aggravated fleeing of law enforcement and other traffic violations, Farmington police Sgt. Dave Monfils said.

A person reported a hit-and-run crash with a parked vehicle south of Sunrise Parkway on Butler Avenue at about 1:10 p.m., he said.

Police spotted the white Kia utility vehicle with front end damage matching the suspect's description driving southbound on Butler, Monfils said.

Police tried to stop the vehicle near Veterans Memorial Park and he fled.

Multiple police officers chased the vehicle through the neighborhoods northeast of 20th Street and Butler for about 20 minutes. At one point during the pursuit Crawford allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road on Butler, jumped a drainage ditch in his vehicle near the Veterans park and crashed into multiple parked vehicles, Monfils said.

Officers used stop sticks on the vehicle near 20th and Cochiti Avenue. The car then turned onto Laguna Avenue and hit a car parked near Crawford's house near 18th Street, Monfils said.

He was arrested and taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center to have a blood-alcohol-content test, Monfils said.

Police could smell alcohol on Crawford at the time of the crash, he said.

Monfils said Crawford struck four vehicles during the pursuit.
