As Board President of the Farmington Boys and Girls Club (which suffered a 32 percent drop in our United Way allocations), I support the agencies' request that the overall process be reviewed. I do think the process might be improved to provide some consistency from year to year. However, I take issue with the comment in last week's Daily Times article that politics were driving the decisions of the allocations panels. I have sat on the panels in the past and my wife was on a panel this year. I know for a fact that the panelists are volunteers giving a significant amount of their personal time to try to make our community a better place. They should be thanked for their service, not demonized with unfounded allegations.
