FARMINGTON — A Farmington man confronted the driver of a truck and his passenger with handguns after the driver nearly caused a car wreck on Monday evening, according to Farmington police.

On Monday, Jeff Ewing, 26, was arrested on suspicion of four felonies, including two counts of aggravated battery. He is being held in jail on an $80,000 bond.

Farmington police said Ewing was driving at about 6 p.m. Monday when a truck pulled out of a driveway near Fairgrounds Road and Cooper Street and almost caused a crash, according to court documents.

Police said that Ewing then drove to his home near 1600 Cochiti Ave., and the truck went to a residence near 1800 Cochiti Ave. Ewing allegedly approached Brady Hurd, the driver of the truck, and Jared Cole, a passenger, outside of a home on Cochiti Avenue.

Police said Ewing pulled two guns, cocked them and threatened Hurd and Cole with them. Ewing also told the men that he was a mixed-martial arts fighter, and he challenged them to a fight inside a cage he keeps on his property, according to court documents. Hurd and Cole told police they declined to fight Ewing in his cage.

No shots were fired during the confrontation.
