FARMINGTON — Farmington police are searching for a man who robbed another man at gunpoint last week at a Farmington gas station.

At about 9:45 p.m. on Friday, Cody Roberts, 24, said he was robbed while trying to buy gas at Giant Gas Station, 531 E. Broadway Blvd.

Roberts parked at a pump, and a man approached his driver's side window and asked for money to buy a room at a nearby hotel.

Roberts told police he gave the man $10, and the man pulled out a small black handgun and demanded all of Roberts' money.

Roberts said he handed the suspect his entire wallet, and the man fled to the Region Inn, 601 E. Broadway Blvd.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 220 pounds. He has short, unkempt hair and tattoos on both arms. He was last seen wearing a blank tank top. Roberts said the suspect spoke with a Hispanic accent.

Anyone with information is asked to call Farmington police at 505-327-7701 or San Juan County Crime Stoppers at 505-334-8477, which allows callers to remain anonymous and receive a cash reward.
