FARMINGTON — A New Mexico Racing Commission meeting that was scheduled for Thursday in Farmington has been rescheduled and moved to June 27 in Albuquerque.
Gayla McCulloch, a commissioner from Farmington, said it's unfortunate Farmington won't host a commission meeting for the foreseeable future.
Scheduling conflicts for another commissioner resulted in the venue change, she said.
"I'm pretty disappointed because we haven't had one here in several years," said McCulloch, who also serves on the Farmington City Council.
"Hopefully next year we can get that changed," she said.
The racing commission is wading through several controversial issues this year, including drug testing and safety for race horses. The commission's regulations affect all of New Mexico's racetracks, including SunRay Park and Casino near Farmington.
