FARMINGTON — A woman driving a gray truck struck a man in a red Toyota pickup truck near the intersection of Main Street and Tucker Avenue on Monday afternoon, snarling traffic for more than an hour.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the gray truck, which was heading north on South Tucker Avenue, failed to yield and hit the red truck on the passenger side, said Farmington police Sgt. Dave Monfils.

Michelle Leach, of Farmington, was driving the gray pickup and was cited for failure to yield. A passenger in the red pickup was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center with ankle and head injuries, Monfils said.

The red truck was pushed into a light pole in the median, causing it to tip over into the westbound lane of Main Street. A U-turn sign and stoplight were also damaged in the crash.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction for an hour and 20 minutes, Monfils said.
"It was backed up quite a bit," Monfils said.
