FARMINGTON — A concert Friday that features four local groups may be the start of an annual jazz festival in downtown Farmington, organizers said.

The concert, which is 7 p.m. Friday at the Totah Theater, features Sheldon Pickering and Friends, Close Enuff, The Delbert Anderson Trio and Nina Sasaki. The Delbert Anderson Trio returned from tour and recently performed in Phoenix, Ariz.

Pickering said the concert will feature everything from funk to blues and jazz. Organizers plan to make the concert an annual event.

One of San Juan College's jazz combos will also perform Friday at a separate venue.

Plastic Dreams, a San Juan College jazz combo, will perform the music of the Modern Jazz Quartet at 7 p.m. Friday in the San Juan College Little Theater. The combo features Hoyle Osborne on piano, Keith Cochrane on vibes, Mike Stickler on bass and Steve Nogarede on drums.

Just Taze Me, a San Juan College rock band, will play from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Coffee House Deli at 5150 College Blvd.

The band consists of Megan Wood on vocals, Dillon Drake on guitar, Cochrane on keys and backup vocals, Stickler on bass and Ty Taylor on drums.

Just Taze Me performs classic to modern rock, as well as music by Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Awolnation, Matchbox 20 and other bands.
