FARMINGTON — Sandstone Productions is having auditions for its summer 2014 musical "Footloose."

The auditions are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. Saturday at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St. and 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 8 at the Durango Arts Center.

Dance and call backs will follow from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the civic center and from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Durango Arts Center.

Call Elizabeth Isenberg at 505-599-1144 to schedule an audition in Farmington and Diane Panelli at 970-259-2606, ext. 19, to schedule a Durango audition.

For the auditions, actors should prepare a short monologue and a song no longer than 2 minutes.

The play will be directed by Theresa Carson, the artistic director and theatre manager at Durango Arts Center. Carson previously taught at San Juan and Fort Lewis Colleges.

Carson says the play is a family-friendly show.

"It's really a story about the difference between generations," she said.

"Footloose" is a good follow-up to the 2013 production, "Grease," because it is light-hearted and fun and also has a message, she said.

Carson encouraged people of all ages to audition and said she wants them to show off their talents rather than try to be someone they're not.

She said she is thankful the city of Farmington has supported Sandstone Productions.

"I love seeing a community band together that way," Carson said.
