FARMINGTON — The Farmington police bomb squad investigated a suspicious item near Northeast Elementary School on Wednesday morning.

The principal called the school resource officer at 8:21 a.m. and said there was a ticking device outside of the school, according to a Farmington police news release.

Children at the school, 1400 E. 23rd St., were evacuated to nearby Hermosa Middle School as a precaution, Farmington police Lt. Taft Tracy said.

The bomb squad determined the item was a clock. It was removed from the area, and children were allowed back in the school.
