FARMINGTON — A 36-year-old Farmington man was arrested last month after police say he had sex with a 16-year-old girl and kept nude photos and video of the girl on his cellphone.
Nathan Wallace, of Farmington, was arrested March 31 after a police investigation, according to a press release from San Juan County Sheriff's Office.
He is being held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
The police investigation began when a Kirtland girl contacted a deputy. The girl told the deputy that Wallace, who was a co-worker, approached her at her 16th birthday party and offered to be her personal fitness coach, according to the press release. She later became friends with Wallace, the release states.
"Their relationship evolved however when Wallace began pressuring her to have sex with him and she eventually submitted," Deputy Robert Tallman with the sheriff's office Special Enforcement Team said in a statement.
Tallman said Wallace sent the girl text messages asking for nude photos of her in sexually explicit poses, and she admitted to sending Wallace those pictures.
The girl told deputies she regrets her decisions and the relationship, according to the press release.
Deputies with the Special Enforcement Team obtained a search warrant for Wallace's phone. They found the photos the girl sent him, as well as video of Wallace engaged in sex acts with the girl, according to the press release.
Wallace was being held at the San Juan County Detention Center on an unrelated probation violation when the deputies interviewed him about his relationship with the girl.
Tallman said Wallace initially denied knowing the girl, but he later admitted to knowing her, though he said they never had a relationship.
