FARMINGTON — One of New Mexico's "Most Wanted" was arrested in Bloomfield after he allegedly attempted to kill his estranged wife more than two years ago.
Hugo Banda, 33, was arrested by a San Juan County Sheriff's Office deputy Friday after the deputy pulled Banda over for having expired registration, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Beth Utley said.
Banda was wanted in connection to a March 14, 2012, incident in Albuquerque where Banda allegedly stabbed the victim as she tried to escape from the vehicle. He allegedly struck her with the vehicle and drove over her.
Banda is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He is being held in San Juan County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Albuquerque.
