FARMINGTON — Salmon Ruins is hosting an opening for the Chaco's Legacy exhibit from 5 to 6 p.m. today, according to a press release.
The exhibit is based on research by Archaeology Southwest and examines ancient Pueblo landscapes, sites and artifacts using a virtual-reality game engine.
Users are able to tour the Chacoan world through a touch screen, which will allow them to explore eight pueblos, several small villages, room interiors, ceremonial spaces and other objects that date between 850 and 1200 AD.
The digital model was made using photographs taken by aerial photographer Adriel Heisey.
Chaco's Legacy is also displayed at Aztec Ruins National Monument.
