Volunteers are needed every day at non-profit agencies across the San Juan region. But, there are also special events that require additional help and assistance from those who can give a few hours on the day of these events. The Volunteer Center at San Juan College can connect volunteers with organizations in need — whether it be for a one day or many days.

The Alzheimer's Association provides information and referral services, education, care consultation, support groups and safe return services. There are many volunteer opportunities at the agency including clerical work, fundraising activities, support groups, educational classes, brochures, mailing and more.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is hosted by the Alzheimer's Association annually and will be held this year on Sept. 13 at Berg Park in Farmington. Volunteers are needed year-round for the Walk Committee and on the day of the event to assist with registration, water stations, soliciting teams and set up.

Registration for the walk will be at 8 a.m., with a ceremony at 9 a.m., before the walk starts at 9:30 a.m. The route length is 2 miles.

Alzheimer's Association volunteers must be 18 or older but youth opportunities are available at the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Training is required for regular volunteers and is provided by the agency.
