FARMINGTON — Farmington High tennis took home three of the four individual District 1-4A titles.

The boys teams swept the singles and doubles brackets, while the girls team had the doubles champion on Saturday in Belen.

Farmington's Matt With and Nathaniel Pavlik defeated Piedra Vista's Colton Howard and Zander Halgryn for the doubles title.

Malcolm McGrath of FHS also defeated PV's Austin Evans for the singles district title.

On the girls side, the Lady Scorpions won the doubles title.

Liza Briody-Pavlik and Riley Coleman defeated their teammates Caroline Moss and Payton Sandoval 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

Sydney Schumacher finished second in singles play for FHS dropping the finals' match to Paris Corley of Grants 6-0, 6-0.

The top three finishers in each bracket advanced to the state individual tournament on May 7 and 8 in Albuquerque.

FHS and PV combined to take 11 of the 12 state spots available at the district tournament with Corley being the only player outside of Farmington to qualify.

"We are proud that we are supported with quality tennis courts and proud of our community," PV boys coach Jenny Baker said in an email.

With and Pavlik were seeded No. 3 in the state doubles bracket. Howard and Halgryn received the No. 7 seed.

Will Hall and Eli Briody-Pavlik will also represent FHS in doubles and were seeded No. 8.

McGrath was seeded No. 7 in the singles bracket. Evans and PV's Bradon Adair enter the tournament unseeded.

The FHS girls received three of the top eight seeds in doubles play.

Briody-Pavlik and Coleman are No. 3 in the state bracket, followed by Moss and Sandoval at No. 5.

Arin Coleman and Caysee Epaloose finished third in district and will be the No. 8 seed at state.

Coleman and Epaloose won a close 7-6, 6-4 third-place match against PV's Ramsey Baker and Alyssa Benally to earn the final doubles spot.

"Both teams started a little tight realizing it was for a state trip but then they all settled down and played some high quality tennis," FHS girls coach Pat McGrath said via email.

Schumacher enters the singles bracket as the No. 6 seed. Hannah Faulkner placed third at district and enters the singles tournament unseeded.

Both FHS and PV will be represented in the teams state tournament as well on May 9 and 10.

The Lady Scorps were seeded No. 1 overall in 4A and will play the winner of No. 8 Goddard and No. 9 St. Pius X.

PV is No. 10 in the bracket and faces No. 7 Roswell in the first round.

In the boys bracket, FHS was seeded No. 2 and will await the winner of No. 7 Los Alamos and No. 10 St. Pius X.

The Panthers are the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 Centennial in the quarterfinals.
