FARMINGTON — The Farmington High tennis teams emerged from the individual state tournament with a pair of third-place finishes.

Riley Coleman and Liza Briody-Pavlik finished in third in the 4A girls doubles event, while Matt With and Nathaniel Pavlik took third in the 4A boys doubles for FHS on Thursday at the Jerry Cline Complex in Albuquerque.

Both duos entered their tournaments as the No. 3 seeds.

Coleman and Briody-Pavlik advanced to the semifinals with a pair of victories, before losing to the eventual state champions from Santa Fe 6-1, 6-3.

The Lady Scorps pair bounced back with a 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 win against the No. 4 seed from Roswell in the third-place match.

With and Pavlik made it to the semifinals after victories against Roswell and Albuquerque Academy, and they then dropped a tight match to the No. 2 seed from Centennial 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The Scorpion boys team cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Santa Fe for third place.

Eli Briody-Pavlik and Will Hall won a match to advance to the quarterfinals in doubles for FHS, as did the Piedra Vista team of Zander Halgryn and Colton Howard.

Caroline Moss and Payton Sandoval reached the doubles quarterfinals for FHS.

In singles play, Sydney Schumacher made a quarterfinal appearance in the girls bracket.

Malcolm McGrath for FHS and Brandon Adair for PV each won a match to make the quarterfinals in the boys bracket before being knocked out.
