Danny Florence's team returns three players off of its last squad and will be looking for a deeper run this time after making the final six a season ago.

The Frozen Ropes won the American Qualifier in South Troy, N.Y., for the second year in a row to make their way back to Farmington.

The team from McKinney, Texas, won all seven games in the qualifier but ran into trouble against D-BAT Gallegos in the tournament final.

The Ropes entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing their Dallas rivals 3-1 before a three-run rally, capped by a walkoff double by Jason Reitmeier, clinched the CMWS berth. During the tournament, Frozen Ropes also beat the host South Troy, who qualified out of the North Atlantic Regional, twice.

"It's really unreal. This is a new team except for three guys and only Bryar Barnes played," Florence said.

Those returning players were integral in reminding the rest of the players why coming back to the CMWS was the objective.

"It's been the goal from the beginning," Florence said. "You can't really explain Farmington. You just have to experience it."

Florence's squad will kick off the series, playing the Puerto Rico qualifier Carolina Vaqueros in the first game of the CMWS at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.

Frozen Ropes went 2-2 in their four games a season ago, defeating South Troy and the Illinois Sparks. They lost to Midland 2-1, before being eliminated by the host Strike Zone.
